Cupping Therapy

Increase Local Circulation

Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy based on TCM ( Chinese Traditional Medicine) theory the belief that pains and aches can be caused by stagnant blood and poor energy flow through your body. Cupping therapy creates suction in the cups, which pulls against a person's skin and expand blood vessels, which increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This can improve overall blood flow, promote cell repair and help to form new connective tissues.

This complementary method help to relieve muscle tension and local pain. For athletes, cupping may help increase blood flow to a particular muscle region or help reduce pain. Numerous athletes from the Olympics in Rio 2016 used cupping. This was easily seen by circular markings on some of the U.S. swim team members.

I usually combine cupping with deep tissue and sports massage to enhance the effect of myofascial release.
