Cupping Therapy

Increase Local Circulation

Cupping is an ancient Chinese therapy based on TCM ( Chinese Traditional Medicine) theory the belief that pains and aches can be caused by stagnant blood and poor energy flow through your body. Cupping therapy creates suction in the cups, which pulls against a person's skin and expand blood vessels, which increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This can improve overall blood flow, promote cell repair and help to form new connective tissues.

This complementary method help to relieve muscle tension and local pain. For athletes, cupping may help increase blood flow to a particular muscle region or help reduce pain. Numerous athletes from the Olympics in Rio 2016 used cupping. This was easily seen by circular markings on some of the U.S. swim team members.

I usually combine cupping with deep tissue and sports massage to enhance the effect of myofascial release.

* Things you should know before your treatment:

  • We only provide Dry cupping treatment (suction-only method)  and only treat the muscular-skeletal system.

  • With conditions include pregnancy (avoid cupping the abdomen and lower back), using blood-thinning medication, skin conditions like sunburn, skin ulcer, infection, wound etc should avoid having this treatment. Please consult your practitioner before your treatment.

  • It's normal to have a hematoma ( bruising) after cupping and leave for a few days. The treatment is meant to promote cell repair and help to form new connective tissue.
